Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) was established in 1949 as the first public university in Indonesia. It is now ranked among the top 20 in ASEAN. It has 55,000 students and 3,600 faculty members. UGM is in Yogyakarta, the cultural capital and historical center of Java. Both the university and the city are popular among students from other countries, and there are currently 2,300 registered students from abroad, 600 of them from other ASEAN countries. Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) is one of the 18 faculties in UGM, privileged to be the host for the ASEAN Master in Sustainability Management. It is ranked among the 5% best business schools in the world and is accredited by AACSB (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business). The ASEAN master will be an MBA and administered by FEB’s Master in Management (MM) program, with more than 30 years of experience in providing excellence in business management education.

ASEAN University Network (AUN), founded in 1995, is the formal owner of the ASEAN Master in Sustainability Management. AUN is part of the official administrative structure of ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) and operates as a cooperative arrangement among 30 universities in the ten ASEAN countries. The AUN Secretariat is in Bangkok, and its Executive Director is the Chairperson of the Study Program Steering Committee. The Dean of UGM’s Faculty of Economics and Business is the Chairperson of the AUN-BE Secretariat, which is the AUN sub-network for Business and Economics.

Norway regards the 2030 Agenda with its 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as a transformative global roadmap, and the Norwegian government is highly committed to working for climate change mitigation. The funding of the ASEAN Sustainability Management Program is aligned with these priorities.
